    dixon

    Meet Dixon!

Dixon is a Jack Russell Terrier / Australian Shepherd mix who was a rescue pup and lives with Derek and Mariana Wagner. He is about 5 years old and has such a fun, smart and playful personality. Sometimes he can be a bit neurotic … that ‘s the terrier in him. He LOVES his family and enjoys hiking in the Rocky Mountain foothills and in the many local, regional and state parks Colorado has to offer, even if it means riding in the car (which he does not like all that much). Dixon is not a fan of other dogs (besides his brother, Tucker) and likes to ignore all the other pups at the dog park. He prefers adventure hikes with his family instead. He also likes playing with his toys “babies” and chasing squirrels and bunnies. He’ll bark like a crazy dog at anyone who comes near the house, but eventually warms up to all of his house guests. Nicknames include: “Dixon Doodle Pasta Noodle Fact or Fiction Richard Nixon Dixon”. His friends call him the “worlds grouchiest dog, possible a pirate in a past life. Believes in the stank eye.” Dixon supports this statement.

    tucker

    This is Tucker!

First and foremost, Tucker hates getting his picture taken. He is that awkward uncle who either hides from the camera or squints or moves at the exact wrong moment. But what he lacks in photogenic-ness, he more than makes up for in his loving personality. Loving. LOVING. He loves his family (Derek, Mariana and their human kids, and of course Grammie Shelley!) and warms up super quickly to all kinds of people. Other dogs? notsomuch. Well, except for that one time we fostered 6 little puppies for a couple months … he ADORED each and every one of them. He even let them sleep on his bed! (note: He tolerates his brother, Dixon. But only barely.) Tucker’s mama was a Coon Hound and his dad was, well, we have no idea. When asked what kind of dog Tucker is, we call him our “blonde dog”. Tucker loves going on walks in the neighborhood and getting snacks.

    bones

    Run Bones, Run!

Bones is a Boxer who is in charge of Amber. He runs SO SO fast, likes tuna, and is socially awkward and insecure. He won’t let Amber sleep alone and hogs the sheets. He thinks his name is “outside”, but it is really Bones. Bones likes to sneeze on you. Even after 8 years, he still doesn’t grasp the concept of a leash and continues to clothesline himself every morning. Other talents include: making awkward eye contact.

    dexter

    Look at Dexter!

Dexter “Dexie” is the cutest Havanese EVER and LOVES getting his picture taken! He lives with Shelley and is about 11 years old, but is so playful and acts like a puppy. If Shelley is on the phone, Dexie HAS TO participate in the conversation. He has a lot to say! He knows when Shelley is sad or upset and is very comforting. Dexie likes his ball and all of his toys, he loves the outdoors and his sister Luna, who lives in Boulder.

    trout

    It’s Trout…the Dog!

Trout is the spunky four legged daughter of Savannah and Noah. Trouty was adopted when she was a mere 8 weeks old, and has been the center of Savannah’s life ever since. Trout is the cosmic karma of all the sass Savannah ever gave her parents growing up, wrapped up in a 65 pound pit bull/red heeler package. Trail running, bunnies, and deer poop are among some of Trout’s favorite things. Her mom promises that besides having a 3-meeting rule before allowing any physical contact, she is a very loving and loyal dog. Her speckles, especially the ones on her belly, were the inspiration for her iconic name. (Trout is actually a catfish. So, there’s that.)

Abby is one of the 2-dog pack that lives with Tami and her family! Abby is a five-year-old German Shepherd/Dachshund mix, AKA “Bratwurst”, and part of Tami’s family. She is SUPER SMART, agile like a cat (sometimes we wonder if she thinks she is one), and so gentle. Lovingly referred to as the “Fun Police”, she likes to keep everyone in line, especially her animal friends that are getting into mischief. Abby loves hiking and rock climbing… Palmer Park is her favorite! She adores her family and is always up for an adventure. Oh, and chicken. She LOVES chicken.

He gives human hugs and has never met a stranger. When his family feeds him dinner, he insists on giving them a thank you kiss on the cheek, every single time. He loves his toys and playing rowdy… but his favorite toy is a stuffed lettuce head that he babies like a precious newborn.

RezDawg Rescue is a local rescue organization that is very near and dear to our hearts. We have volunteered with them to foster and find homes for many dogs over this past year. Please take a moment to learn more about RezDawg Rescue and please donate or volunteer, if you can!

    From their website:

Through a sense of community formed with several indigenous peoples and our core belief in achieving balance between modern technological assistance and millennia-old traditions, RezDawg Rescue strives to address the needs of stray companion animals in the Four Corners region of the US by providing Rescue ➜ Relocation ➜ Spaying/Neutering ➜ Fostering ➜ Adoption.

We are accomplishing these goals by becoming a dependable resource to members of the Navajo Nation and Zuni Pueblo. We do this by offering transportation to low cost or free spay/neuter services, respectfully teaching people how to humanely care for their animals, responding to cases of animal cruelty and neglect, assisting in emergency veterinary care for animals that are suffering on a case by case basis, and taking unwanted animals into our foster care. Community outreach is accomplished by going door-to-door and developing long standing relationships with native communities based on trust and mutual respect.
